2014 Rosés Now Arriving in our Wine Department | The Hills Market Worthington

If it seems to you that some of our Rosés are arriving a little later than usual, you are correct.  Dockworker strikes in the South of France have delayed, if not halted, shipments of some French Rosés to the American market. While we would argue that Rosé is a great option year round, there is no question that the majority of Rosé consumed in the US is done so during the Spring and Summer months. Never Fear! I have faith that our French Rosés will eventually get here, but in the meantime, this gives us a chance to explore Rosé from other parts of the world.

Here are three to try:

St. Supery Rosé 2014 Napa Valley, CA  $12.99
This offering from Napa is comprised of 50% Merlot, 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Malbec, 3%Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. The harvest was completed at the beginning of October and the wine was bottled in December. A few hours of maceration give this wine it's lovely fuschia color, and the wine is fruity, fresh and aromatic. Given the high content of Merlot and Cabernet in this Rosé, pairing it with a cheeseburger hot off the grill is a no-brainer.

Bodegas Muga Rosado 2014 Rioja, Spain  $14.99
A blend of Grenache, Tempranillo, and Viura, this wine is macerate with the skins for 12 hours then fermented in small wooden vats. The result is a wine that is a beautiful rich salmon color with ripe peach and pineapple aromas on the nose with more peach on the palate leading to a velvety finish. Try this one with some grilled shrimp or fish

Stolpman Vineyard Grenache Rosé 2014 Ballard Canyon, CA  $19.99
100% Grenache was barely soaked at all and the result is a very light salmon colored Rosé. This elegant wine is full of stone fruit and wild strawberry backed by zippy acidity and limestone minerality. The mid palate is round with notes of angel food cake and peaches. This one would be great with light pasta dishes or grilled chicken.
